Montana Big Game Licenses and Seasons

Over the past few years Elk and Deer licenses have been 100% draw rate for non-residents. Antelope can be hard for non-residents to draw, but is improving since antelope numbers have rebounded. **Montana license fees are refundable if you do not draw!**
Refunds for Big Game Combo licenses are allowed in Montana: 80% Before August 1st. 50% Between August 2nd and the opening of the General Big Game Season.

The Difference Between a Preference Point & Bonus Point
- Preference Points are for Non-Resident Deer/Elk Licenses. Cost $50
- Bonus Points are for both Resident & Non-Resident Permit Application.
This license is required for non-resident hunters wishing to harvest an Elk. The Elk/Deer combo also includes Deer. This license includes everything you need to legally hunt in Montana as a non-resident and also includes a fishing license and upland game bird hunting (excluding turkey). Youth ages 12-17 license is 1/2 price when hunting with parent or grandparent!

This license is required for non-resident hunters wishing to only harvest Deer. This license includes everything you need to legally hunt in Montana as a non-resident and also includes a fishing license and upland game bird hunting (excluding turkey). Youth ages 12-17 license is discounted when hunting with parent or grandparent!

Montana Antelope License
This license is required for non-resident hunters who wish to hunt an antelope or add an antelope to their Mule Deer hunt or Elk/Mule Deer Combo hunt. Draw success rate for non-residents is about 30%. Montana refunds your license fee if you do not draw so we highly recommend trying to draw for this exciting Montana antelope hunt that people around the country rave as the most exciting antelope hunt they have experienced!
*Archery hunters must have completed an archery safety course or have previously held an archery license in another state
